Oregon Coast Bridal Shoot
These images and video were produced from Donny Zavala's workshop this past month in April. This Oregon Coast Bridal Shoot was held at Hug Point on the coast. THE SETTING WAS special to me because Oregon is my home.

..."What’s lacking in this world? What does the world need more of? Through this I came to this desire of more “purity.” A word that was a stark contrast from the everyday talks of fake news, from the fighting of different ideologies, and from the the talks of war. Purity was that virtue that was missing and lacking and I ran with it. Through this, Donny and I wanted the photographers that attended the workshop to leave all their troubles at the door and come with their hearts open; to be real and vulnerable."

"We wanted the photographers to look through their lens as if they were seeing for the first time. And that’s exactly what happened. As we were shooting, it was pouring rain and the strong wind was pushing us. It was definitely a challenge for everyone. But the entire creative team and the photographers were so driven to make it happen and the model was as pure, beautiful and not complaining once. It was beautiful to be a witness of. It was as if there was a purification moment that was happening and I loved every moment of it. Purity came and showed up and I hope as you scroll down to read further, that you see and discover it too."

The stylist, Lucia from Utterly Engaged is an amazing creative director. Her story and direction resonates with me because I too am an advocate of purity, honestly, peace, and love. Every detail and element that Lucia incorporated in this shoot reflected that vision. lucia turned a philosophy into a reality by creating beautiful and soft imagery.

Battling the harsh Pacific Northwest elements was a challenge for everyone involved. However, I believe that the rain, wind, cold temperatures, and overcast weather brought out the best artist in all of us...particularly me because i felt at home in my element.

for this workshop, 9-10 other professional photographers bunked up together in one large vacation home for a couple days. The majority of the attendees were from out of town so it was awesome getting to know everyone. When you get a bunch of photographers together to bond over their love of film, it's a beautiful thing!

The atmosphere and environment was uplifting, inspiring, and fun. Whether or not a photographer is a novice or expert, I strongly encourage all of them to consider opportunities like workshops. It's healthy and beneficial to be involved in their photography community, make connections, learn, teach, grow, engage, get equipped, have fun, and the best part... getting to create beautiful content!
From Donny's workshop, I have fostered some promising relationships that feed my company and more importantly, my heart and soul.
I have been passionate about film photography for what it seems like a lifetime and shoots like this take me back to euphoria... the first day I discovered my love of this art over 20 years ago. Thank you Lucia for taking me back to that place.
